Mr. Joseph Hadrian Bosco, Director

Joseph Hadrian Bosco brings to Karamel, nearly four decades of experience in the realm of finance, banking and capital markets across the globe. He has assumed positions of leadership in various organisations at the strategic and operational levels as well as in the advisory capacity.

Mr. Bosco is an expert in establishing businesses from scratch and has been doing so for years now, the latest being the establishment of Global Board of Trade (GBOT), a multi-asset class Exchange in Mauritius. Under his leadership, GBOT had established the first international multi-asset exchange that connects Africa, Middle East, Europe and Asia from Mauritius. The Exchange commenced operations with globally benchmarked systems, processes and procedures in 2010, within two years of him arriving in Mauritius. His stint at GBOT has enabled him to become well versed withthe offshore corporate environment including the affairs relating to the International Financial Centre in Mauritius and the DTAA between India and Mauritius. He has also gained considerable knowledge on the functioning of capital markets and regulations in  five African countries.

Prior to his assignment with GBOT, Mr. Bosco was the Head of an independent Listings Authority in an International Exchange in Dubai (NASDAQ Dubai) with various international listings of instruments including Sharia compliant instruments. He had written the Listing Rules for the exchange across market segments.

Prior to that, Mr. Bosco proved his cross-functional leadership and execution expertise at India’s leading stock exchange, the National Stock Exchange of India Ltd. (NSEIL. He was the Head of various core departments such as Membership, Listings, Inspection and Corporate Communications( between 1996 and 2004). At ICICI Securities Ltd (Isec), (2004  to 2005) one of India’s largest Investment Banks, he helped establish the Legal as well as the Compliance departments and was the head of their global Legal and Compliance functions with presence in the US, UK and Singapore apart from their large operations in India. He was a Director on the Board of two US companies belonging to the ICICI Bank Group and was accountable to the SEC.

Mr. Bosco is extremely conversant with organizing Compliance structures for licensees in the Capital Market space and advice such entities on protecting their business and advancing them. He was also Managing Director & CEO of Over the Counter Exchange of India (OTCEI).( 1998 to 2000)

He was also on various committees of Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) including the framing of the DIP Guidelines relating to the IPO markets in India. He is one of the founding Executive members of the South Asian Federation of Exchanges (SAFE) comprising of Exchanges in the SAARC region.

To add to these, Mr. Bosco has also served as a banker with with Syndicate Bank (from1974 to 1996). During his tenure, he was the head of various key branches of the bank  across the country (India). He had also served in the Internal Audit (Inspection) and vigilance departments.

Mr. Bosco, a Wharton School of Business alumnus, is a Graduate Professional in Capital Market Regulations and Compliance (CRCP) from the world renowned B-School. He holds an MBA in Finance from XIM-Bhubaneswar,( of the XLRI group), one of India’s leading B-Schools and is also a legal professional.

Mr. Bosco was a visiting faculty of Finance at leading business schools all over India.
